2003/2006 Vosne-Romanee

People often associate the Romanee of Vosne-Romanee with the glamourous and priviledged producer – Domaine Romanee-Conti DRC, but that is only a part of this piece of Buy albenza online jewel in the Cote de Nuits crown. There is still much more for every Burgundian lovers to explore.

This month you can enjoy two wines from Vosnes-Romanee for a special price of $888 with one from Malconsorts, a premier cru vineyard that has the potential to challenge grand cru vineyard quality.

Vosne-Romanee is the greatest Pinot Noir village on earth. No other appellation in Burgundy can combine the intensity of flavour with the refinement that typifies the fine wines of Vosne-Romanee.

Vosne-Romanee is not large, 180 ha of vines, much smaller than Gevrey-Chambertin. Its limited supply makes Vosne-Romanee possibly the most expensive appellation in the whole of Buurgundy.

The Vosne-Romanee style is for wines which are rich, austere, sensual, masculine and aristocratic. All the Vosne-Romanee Grand Crus are superb but prohibitively expensive. Several premier Crus offer quality close to the quality of Grand Crus. The best Premier Crus are Les Suchots (adjacent to Richebourg and Romanee St-Vivant), Les Malconsorts and Les Gaudichots (bordering La Tache).

2003 Vosne-Romanee, Les Malconsorts, 1er, Nicolas Potel
An interesting nose that blends floral notes, Vosne spice and moderate reductive notes introduce big, burly and robust flavors and a concentrated, punchy and somewhat dry and chewy finish. This is quite firmly structured, and while not elegant, there is plenty of personality. Patience will be required. Tasted 01 Jan 2005. Drink: 2010+

Nicolas Potel has always been an excellent source of predominately red Burgundy, Nicolas Potel started this negociant in 1997 following the death of his father and the subsequent sales of the family Dom de la Pousse d’Or. As Clive Coates described, “from the start, Nicky Potel’s range of wines was impressive, both for its breadth – he seemed to have a knack for securing parcels which had eluded his peers – and for its high quality. The wines are well-coloured, full without being sturdy, rich and succulent, pure and elegant.”

2006 Vosne-Romanee, Aux Reas, Domaine Thibault Liger
Thibault Liger-Belair’s holding of the village sector of Aux Reas is well-situated in the southern slope, making Thibault Liger-Belair’s Aux Reas better than standard Vosne-Romanee village wines.

“Pretty Vosne spice notes and red and blue pinot fruit are blessed with under currents of earth, soy and a hint of hoisin that add depth and interest to the black and red pinot fruit that slides gracefully into supple and textured flavors that possess a velvety feel on the austere and quite tight mineral-infused finish. A very good villages but one that will require time.” Allen Meadow’s Burghound Jan 01 2009

“This elegant red is marked by new oak, with pure black cherry and blackberry notes. Starts out smooth, turning slightly astringent at the end. Yet there’s lots of sweet fruit, so give this some time to integrate. Best from 2010 through 2015.” Wine Spectator Nov 15, 2008

Thibault Liger-Belair is a relatively new domaine began in 2002 described by Clive Coates as “a future star”. The vines are certified organic and farmed biodynamically with horses used for ploughing as much as possible. Grapes are selected rigorously. Buy Diflucan Online Pharmacy No Prescription Needed Oak treatment is never over-the-top with new oak barrels never exceed 50 per cent.
