Possibly because of the high rent in Hong Kong, I always find it difficult to find reasonably priced wine in Hong Kong retail wine stores.

A few nights before, I originally planned to have Thai cuisine.  Since I found it always quite difficult to have wine to match Thai cuisine, I didn’t bring any wine with me.  Unfortunately, when I arrived the restaurant, the Thai restaurant was already out of business.  Switching back to have Cantonese cuisine immediately prompted me to buy a bottle of wine.

Rushing into the nearest Watsons Wine Cellar, I searched for special priced wines.  In Watsons, it is almost impossible to have any wine that is reasonably priced unless they are on special.  Spotting a bottle of 2005 Phelan Seguar at a special price of $398, it seems like a very good choice.  From the several bottles of Ch. Phelan Segur I tried before, while I didn’t find any which is really Online Pharmacy No Prescription Needed exciting, none of the bottle disappointed Buy levitra online me.  Given 2005 is a great vintage in  Bordeaux, I believe this should be a bottle that won’t disappointed me as well.

Ch. Phelan Segur is located in the commune of St-Estephe in Bordeaux.  Although Ch. Phelan Segur is not a grand cru classe according to 1855 classification, most of its vineyards are well located next to the famous of estates of Ch. Montrose and Ch. Calon-Segur.  In order to ensure the quality of its grand vin, only half of the grapes will be used in its grand vin.  The rest will be used to produce its second wine Frank Phelan and third wine Croix Bonis.

The wine style of Ch. Phelan Segur is usually not very massive and I always sense touch of elegant.  So, if you are a fan of Parker-style heavily concentrated and rich wine, you may find Ch. Phelan Segur slightly lacking concentration.  However, I usually find this kind of wine to be a good food-wine.  The alcohol level is also just at 13%.  This bottle of 2005 Ch. Phelan Segur has strong aromas of damp earth and herbs.  It has a very silky texture with very fine and ripe tannins.  A very good quality Bordeaux wine which is reasonably priced in Hong Kong.

Purchased from Watsons Wine Cellar (Original HK$560 / Special HK$398)
